Carseat recalled, manufacturer sent replacement part, doesn't really work? Hubby and I bought an Evenflo carseat/carrier and the matching stroller from Target in November because it was on sale. We put it in our garage (the baby isn't due until May). I found out a few weeks ago that it was recalled because it could pop out of the base in a side impact crash. I ordered the part that "corrects" the problem. The part came and it basically ties the carseat to the base so it can't pop out, but it no longer is easily removed from the car with one hand...which is why we chose this particular model to begin with. Target won't take it back becuase it has been more than 90 days since purchase. Evenflo says that the corrected the defect so they have nothing more to do with it. Maybe I'm being too sensitive about this but I just feel like we didn't get what we paid for. I want a safe carseat, but I also want the features that we paid for that are available in other brands/models. Advice on what to do? I would write a letter to the manufacturer, express disappointment, and demand refund. Tell them that you chose this car seat for a specific reason, and that it does not meet your demands anymore. If they do not refund you, then you can threaten to make your case public and spread the word about them. The company should be concerned about their reputation. If you do all that you possibly can and still do not get a refund, then you can sell on ebay or in a place such as Once Upon a Child and get another one. I know you're going to lose some money if this happens, but at then end of the day, the child's safety and your convenience is what counts. I'm sorry that you had to go through this. But congrats on your baby.
